The Woolly's Portrait, Beef, and love of Julia

Here are the very delayed caterpiller pictures. The big fat one belly up has me a bit worried, but he is still alive (and belly up).

I think I may have mentioned my computer troubles...well after failed attempts at a fix by a fabulous gal at my husband's work we brought it to Best Buy. The money they wanted to ATTEMPT to fix it was ridiculous, half the cost of this here new MacBook Pro I am typing on. So bear with me as I learn the ropes of the Apple world, I love this machine- but there are some WiFi snags which I am not thrilled about. For instance, there is a constant loop of failed 'save' attempts going on right now. Hm.

In other news, the beef has arrived! Ninety-something pounds of butcher paper goodness. I am not familiar with so many of the cuts. Some web surfing led to more frustration over my lack of knowledge so off to the book store I went. After an hour of thumbing through rows of cookbooks I found Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child to be the only one mentioning all(most) of my cuts of beef. Thank goodness for Julia!! Does no one sell these cuts of meat anymore? I wouldn't know since I buy steaks and ground beef only, that is until this recent bulk purchase......I can't seem to kick the nasty cold/flu bugs and this viral pink-eye has been a real blast! Hope you all are faring better than myself!

Congrats on joining the Mac family! I have been on Macs since the 80's and love them! And congrats on the beef! I am still looking for a good copy of "the chart", you know the poster with all the cuts of meat? I think it will be a cool addition to my kitchen all framed and hanging above my freezer next to my dry erase board, lol! I love the one Alton Brown has, but I can't seem to find it anywhere on the net!

Thanks Erin, Vista put me over the edge and don't know that I will ever go back, I am really liking my Mac....can't figure out how to link yet though...I can copy, but then no paste options comes up when I right click in the desired spot. Any idea as to what I am doing wrong?

Oh, and no 'backspace' key is jamming me up! Lol.

Yes, Alton does have a nice chart, I was hoping his books would be a good reference but he just glosses over the basics, more about cooking methods than what to do with all cuts.

I never thought about the backspace key, lol! You are right.... but the delete key works as both delete & backspace depending on if you are at the beginning or end of the word. The thing about switching from PC to Mac is not to overthink things. Mac keeps everything pretty common sense, I found that when I had to use a PC at work I got frustrated because everything seemed to take several steps to accomplish! good luck
